Kim Hyun Joon (a.k.a. Ji Hoo) was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 6, 1986. He was debuted as the leader of the boyband SS501 in 2005. As a well-known actor, Kim Hyun Joong has appeared in several television series including “Nonstop 5,” “Can Love Be Refilled?” “Hotelier,” “Spotlight” and “Boys Over Flowers.” He also appeared in some reality shows like “Thank You For Waking Us Up,” “Thank You For Raising Us” and “We Got Married.”

They also won the “Best Couple Award” of MBC. The Lettuce Couple made their exit from the show on December 14, 2008 because of scheduling conflicts posed by “Boys Over Flowers,” which made Kim Hyun Joong more famous not only in South Korea but also in some other parts of the world.

In “Boys Over Flowers,” Kim Hyun Joong plays the role of Yoon Ji Hoo, a member of the famous F4 who can play various musical instruments. According to some reports, Kim Hyun Joong was chosen to play Yoon Ji Hoo, who is Hanazawa Rui in the Japanese manga “Hana Yori Dango,” because he was considered apposite for the character. The television series received high ratings in Korea during its airing from January 2009 up to March 2009.

Because of his role in the top-rated television series, Kim Hyun Joong got the “Popularity Award” at the 45th PaekSang Arts Awards which was held at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, South Korea on February 27, 2009.
